- Dr France Légaré MD PhD CCFP FCFP, received the 2011 Alain-Cloutier Award.
The award is granted to a physician who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting innovative technology projects that have had an impact on medical organization and practice in a Québec region. Dr Légaré received the award for her work in the deployment of one of Canada's largest primary care-based clinical research networks for shared decision making.

- She successfully defended her University of Ottawa PhD dissertation last week.
Her research "Interprofessional Shared Decision-Making in NICU: A Mixed Method Design"
is adding valuable new knowledge in the areas of decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and communication.
The examiners were so impressed with Sandy's work that they will be nominating her for a University of Ottawa award.

- Great news! The Cochrane Library, as part of a pilot project, is now available throughout Canada to everyone with Internet access. As of April 15, and until the end of 2009, everyone is one click away from the wealth of information contained in the Library. Practitioners, researchers and patients alike will be able to make informed decisions what treatments work best.
Visit www.thecochranelibrary.com and spread the word to your friends and colleagues about this great announcement. The more people who use the Library in the coming months, the better the chance of obtaining a permanent license and making Canada-wide access a reality into 2010 and beyond!

- April 25 – Launch of Chilean Project Focuses on Decision Support for Type 2 Diabetics
- The Pontificia Catholic University of Chile officially launched a 30-month research projected funded by the Chilean Fund for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Development (FONDEF) of CONICYT (National Science Fund). The project is titled "Development of a telephone medicated self-care decision support program as an innovative component of primary health care delivery model in Chile as a method to improve health decision making, self-care, user satisfaction, and metabolic compensation among people with diabetes". Annette O'Connor, Dawn Stacey, and Peter Tugwell of the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are co-investigators on the project.
